Tag-new lifestyle: luxury fashion brands are embracing the athleisure concept - South China Morning Post

Showing up in yoga pants and sneakers anywhere exterior of the gym was once frowned upon, yet today's street-style icons and professionals alike flaunt their healthy lifestyle on the go by donning meagre-edition trainers matched with... It's apparent that the athleisure trend is here to stay. Moncler President Remo Ruffini talks about invention. The term athleisure - recently included in the 2016 Merriam-Webster's Dictionary - refers to casual clothing designed to be tatty for exercising and general use. "It's definitely not just for the gym," says Kelly Wong, Lane Crawford's general merchandise manager. "We encompass the apprehension of the customer lounging in athleisure, doing sports in them or even extending its versatility to wear to work and go straight to the gym afterwards, hassle-free. Lane Crawford presents stylish 'athleisure' collections. The athleisure category has shown promising growth over the past few years. According to a Morgan Stanley Research report persist year, the US activewear market accounts for annual sales of US$97 billion. The report estimates that the industry could add more than 30 per cent broadening in sales by 2020 in the US market, whereas Europe could expect 5 per cent average annual sales growth over the next five years. "We improvise the market will be surprised to learn how broad-based the cultural factors driving athletic apparel and footwear sales are," says Jay Solitary, Morgan Stanley's branded apparel and footwear analyst. Luxury lingerie makers are opening new stores, expanding product offerings and even providing customisation. Scads attribute the popularity of athleisure to the change in people's lifestyle - focusing on health and well-being. "It's a shift that we are seeing within our daily lives," says Lisa Aiken, Net-a-Bearer's fashion director. There's a social element in taking fitness classes together. Athleisure brand Aeance's founder Nadine Baier agrees and says: "Sexual conventions on clothing are decreasing. Jetsetters are also splurging on activity-packed lavish holidays across the globe which increases the needed for performance sportswear. It's a lifestyle," says Remo Ruffini, chairman of Moncler which in 2010 launched the Grenoble collection focusing on extraordinary-performance sportswear for extreme climates. "A small number of people began holidaying in prestigious mountain resorts during the 1950s. Extravagant-altitude clothing has since been transformed. Chanel, Dior and Louis Vuitton are offering couture sneakers while Fendi, Chloé and Hermès are launching capsule collections exclusively designed for skiing and cross-fitting. High-end retailers have invested in campaigns dedicated to athleisure. One example is Lane Crawford's Fit Live concept. Two years ago, luxury e-tailer Net-a-Porter launched Net-a-Porter Sport Channel designed for 11 sports including golf, yoga and dance. "We recognised that there was a titanic opportunity in designer sportswear," says Aiken. The athleisure trend has shown few signs of slowing down. The past few years have also seen the spotlight on sportswear highlighting cutting-edge technology and integrating it with timeless style and aesthetics. Niche brands are embracing the direction with an innovative edge - Moncler's Grenoble line, Athletic Propulsion Labs, Aeance and DYNE - to name a few. Source: www.scmp.com

What Happened to Brooke Burke? - Gazette Study

This brunette dreamboat is most widely known for her appearances in Rock Star and Dancing with the Stars. Besides being a popular television host, Brooke Burke was also a well-fixed dancer, model, actress and author. With over 210,000 likes on Facebook and 150,000 followers on Instagram, it’s no doubt that this celebrity had her serving of fans around the world. But then in 2014, a shocking announcement was made that she would not be returning to the show, Dancing with the Stars for its 18th season and with that, her activity in the showbiz seemed to subside down- she hasn’t made any TV appearances since... Born in Connecticut and raised in Arizona, the American star was raised Jewish and is was the younger of two siblings. The luminary’s initial claim to fame came from her hosting of the travel show, Wild On. in 1999. She later competed in the special host issue of Weakest Link a couple of years later, and was voted out in the second round. It wasn’t until 2005 that she got a break in her calling from hosting the CBS reality show, Rock Star- a series in which aspiring singers from all around the world competed to become the lead choir member of a band. Her second rise to fame can be accredited to her winning, along with her partner Derek Hough, the seventh season of Dancing with the Stars. After her undefeated victory, she was later chosen to replace Samantha Harris as the co-host for the show for its tenth season. Brooke then spent seven rich seasons co-hosting the American television series with Tom Bergeron. …but that all seemed to end abruptly when the now 42-year-old celebrity, was abruptly fired from Dancing with the Stars in February of 2014. This horrifying news made its way around to the viewers of the show. many even claimed it to be “one of the most shocking eliminations” that the TV series has ever seen. Brooke later revealed that, she herself was to some startled from being let go, especially since she had received the news over the phone while taking her children to schoolー a less than ideal situation for any television host. But ignoring her unceremonious exit from the series, the brunette seemed to have been able to remain positive while taking it all in stride. Some say that the show wanted a host with a “younger vibe” but will we all the time know the real reason behind it. Probably not. In November of 2012, while hosting the dance competition series, Brooke was also diagnosed with thyroid cancer after her doctor had discovered a undersized lump on her skin during a routine checkup. After being poked and prodded for numerous biopsies and tests, it was determined that a thyroidectomy, or removal of the thyroid glands, would be certain to remove the mass that was determined to be 75% cancerous. Since her departure from Dancing with the Stars, Brooke has made a small appearance in the ABC series, Melissa & Joey, back in 2014. In terms of more up to date media appearances, she has also presented and co-hosted the 2016 Miss America Pageant... It has also been revealed that she will be a contestant on the eighth time of The Celebrity Appearance, an American reality game show that is hosted by none other than Donald Trump himself. While not entirely gone from the entertainment question, it seems that the 42-year-old celebrity has chosen to take a (temporary. ) back seat in the showbiz and instead has grown to behove more active in her family and fitness life. Brooke is no stranger to Instagram, go ahead and take a look at her profile- chances are, you’ll either see shots of her one's own flesh life or of her fitness ventures. Source: gazettereview.com

Limited activewear vendors add colorful, feminine flair to apparel - Baltimore Sun

In October 2014, Mish launched Devon Maryn, a preppy-stylish, feminine activewear and lifestyle brand that's geared toward women who like to exercise in colorful garments. The brand has been picked up by boutiques and online vendors throughout the sticks — especially along the East Coast and in the South. "Overall, there's been such a huge shift toward it being acceptable to dress more casually 24/7, and that's why I think activewear brands are in point of fact thriving," said Mish, who has sold several thousand of her garments, which are known for their... The athletic wear market has exploded — especially when it comes to women's apparel — and townsman brands are following in the footsteps of major players. The athletic wear market has increased 42 percent to $270 billion over the over seven years, according to an October 2015 Morgan Stanley study. And it doesn't look like the trend is going to cloddish. Sports participation among high-schoolers has jumped from 25 percent to more than 35 percent over the past 35 years. The communiqu said girls have led the charge, increasing from 17 percent to 32 percent during that period. Companies like Under Armour were to the fore of the curve in the late 2000s, luring women's fashion designers to help incorporate more color palettes into their female-centric collections of workout accessories. The company realized it wasn't enough to simply remake men's garments in stereotypic pink hues and women's sizes. In addition to the big names in athletic clothing — Nike and Lululemon — mould designers like Stella McCartney and Mara Hoffman have unveiled stylish athletic collections alongside less-extravagant brands like H&M, Target and Old Navy. "When I strategize my marketing message, I'm thinking about my customers, who are women like me — moms, elaborate women who are doing their best to live an active lifestyle and want to dress like they're on vacation even when they're not," Mish said. Sarah Windham, a Baltimore neighbouring, has been wearing Devon Maryn activewear since the brand's launch. She said she loves the fit of the clothes and the attention to detail, such as the patterned piping and accessory fabric along the waistline. "The fit for Devon is the key," Windham said. "She's designing for women. In addition to wearing the pieces to the gym, Windham likes to be in them when she's rock climbing. Even niche fitness apparel markets are experiencing a fashionable shift. Becky Redett, owner of Sassy Cyclist, a label of colorful cycling jerseys, launched her designs in October. In addition to being sold online, her jerseys are available at Joe's Bike Boutique in Mount Washington. But traditional jerseys are logoed-out, competitive-looking and masculine," she said. Redett's first run of jerseys come in floral and geometric patterns, and in ultra-fulgid colors. "I included everything that I thought was missing," she said. The feedback has been positive, according to Redett, who says she has sold half of her primary run of several hundred jerseys. "People say they are prettier and fit better," she said. "They look like they've been designed by women. Dawn Barnes, holder of Prance & Sway, a boutique in Mount Vernon specializing in majorette, dance and cheer apparel, opened her business in November in part to proposition the local dance community costumes, practice and workout gear that was more...
