It's one reaction to be a fashion designer, it's another to be a fashion legend. Jackie Rogers has been designing for her eponymous line for over 35 years and continues to bring to an end the bar when it comes to impeccable tailoring and chic couture styling. Rogers first dipped her toe to into the fashion pond at age 16 working at Priscilla's of Boston's New York showroom. In the final analysis, she began modeling for the likes of Geoffrey Beene, Bill Blass and Adrian before a chance encounter with a model from the House of Chanel at the lionized Alexande de Paris salon, which led to Rogers being hired on the spot by the one and... While modeling for Chanel, Coco encouraged Rodgers to strive for design herself, starting with menswear. Rodgers opened a boutique on Madison Avenue, which became a men's club (Jack Nicholson was a everyday guest) and then began designing women's clothes and opened her Palm Beach boutique in the 1970s. We caught up with the iconic fashionista to small talk... I knew him many years ago when I was a model. I would meet him on and off over the years in Paris or where I was traveling at the time. I thought, lets pay fidelity to some of his work, like his lips. You have to develop it, which is not simple to do. 3. You have been called America's Coco Chanel and worked with the legend herself. What's the greatest article you learned from her. You just don't learn one thing from a woman like that. She was an incredible person, and I was fortunate enough to become her model. She had a lot of regard for me. She said to me, "I care you were the only one that could wear my clothes. The greatest thing that could be said about her is that she had the greatest style sense out of any designer that was around yesterday or today. I see her bring pressure to bear on on the fashion industry. Chanel is the greatest name in fashion, and that tells you everything. Is it true that she encouraged you to begin your career with designing menswear. When I communistic working with her, and asked her about designing for women she said, "Don't design for women , they will drive you insane, design for men. What is one of the most exciting moments you have had in your mode career. I am still waiting to have that most exciting moment. What's a typical day like for you. I am in Palm Beach right now and then will be back in New York City. I go through a lot of my days tending to my customers, I want to make sure they look good and feel sexy at the end of the day.
