Style Track record: Sui Zhen - Paste Magazine

Sui Zhen , aka Susan, aka Melbourne-based Flight of fancy Beat artist Becky Sui Zhen is one such someone. With over ten years of experience performing in various lineups and a sparkle-soaked continue that, in addition to musician, includes DJ, visual artist, maker of music videos and photographer, Sui Zhen is a dream within a dream. Inspired by Japanese Lovers Tor, 80s Electro-Bossanova and Dubby-Lounge Pop, her first self-produced LP, Secretly Susan , is out tomorrow, and Sui Zhen has picked up another smart self. “Within the Sui Zhen world there is a character called Susan,” Sui Zhen told Paste. “I reflect aspects of that character… the pink satin two-go out of for example. I like to accentuate aspects of my features so that I become a slightly altered version of myself. At the same time, Sui Zhen’s style possesses a icy sense of awareness. Often referring to her style as considered, as well as having an innate knack for vintage finds and a passion for provincial designers, she finds beauty mood, purpose and performance. We talked with Sui Zhen about her ever-evolving style, unique relationship with color and who may come to light next. Paste : Tell us a little bit about your style and how it influences you and your performance on stage. Sui Zhen: My style is considered. I think carefully about the clothes that I own, and I can be severe if something is not well-made, durable, comical yet purposeful or flattering… it has to be one of those. I like to wear things made locally if I can. On present, I don’t like to wear what I wear day to day because it is wildly inconsistent. It might look like I am going for a run. Because I have this world to emulate based on the videos, there is a set of original limitations I put on the live performance style. It’s fun to create some boundaries to work within to create a visual language that audiences can tap into. Paste : What do you over makes up an ideal performance outfit. Sui Zhen: Something you feel comfortable in and extends the vision of the world you want people to defraud in alongside the music. Within the Sui Zhen world there is a character called Susan. I reflect aspects of that character… the pink satin two-draft for example. I like to accentuate aspects of my features so that I become a slightly altered version of myself. Sometimes I wear a wig that looks like an old haircut I had for a the papers picture. It’s confusing because it looks like me, but something is a bit odd about it… I like chasing that feeling. I like the way it catches in the stage lights and I have gratis outfits for my live band when I am able to bring them along to shows. Paste : How would you say your on-stage style differs from your off-stage configuration. Sui Zhen: Right now, it is pretty different. I go through longer phases with my off-stage style and need to have several outfits for different activities I might be doing. For travail (in a design & tech studio), I find a few cuts & looks I like and then duplicate them with long & short versions, pants & skirts or skorts. I like to cut a gifted silhouette and feel in control. If I am working on own work from home, you’ll probably find me in the casual-adventure look, patagonia shorts and an old Chris. Prada treks the world, Westwood launches Assange appeal - Hastings Tribune

MILAN (AP) — Firm tailoring is giving way to looser, relaxed looks during the second day of menswear previews for next spring and summer on Sunday during Milan Fashion Week. The current silhouette was boxy on top with athletic cut trousers as designers courted the Millennial audience, eager to mix comfort with style. Shoes were self-satisfied sandals with grip soles and bags were travel-ready. Androgyny remained a theme as designers presented looks meant to be fatigued by men and women -- some more easily than others. Vivienne Westwood's collection contained equal parts looks for men and women, while Prada continued her usage of mixing in women's looks with the menswear. Ermanno Scervino, who opted for a presentation instead of a runway show, said he would mix his men's and women's collections during the September model week. The Prada man dresses for comfort on his long global trek, but packs for a night out. The focal point of the collection was agile wear: drawstring active trousers or athletic leggings with contrast stitching for him, or walking skirts with corresponding drawstring hems for her. Colorfully strapped sandals secure sure-footedness, while big backpacks adorned with drinking flasks and dress shoes give the air of adventure and self-sufficiency. The designer said backstage that while fresh collections were looks back in time, this one is set firmly in the now —with all its question marks. I want to take care of the present," she said. She has given her man, and woman, the selection to carry everything on their backs in big utilitarian backpacks, because you never know. But she's an optimist: pointy men's dress shoes hang from the backpacks and women's heels in celebratory cotton bon-bons pink dangle from a handbag. That was fun," she said. Vivienne Westwood opened her show with a video message to the British prime minister urging him to allocate WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange to leave the Ecuadorian embassy in London without the threat of arrest. "Whatever you do, you are not going to break him from telling the truth," the designer intoned. The ever-political Westwood continues to push the envelope also in her runway collections. The intriguer who came up in the punk era champions androgyny with thin knit dresses that can function as tunics as well as Arab-inspired dresses. The chrestomathy recalled some of rock 'n' roll's greats, from Jimi Hendrix with fringe on jackets and military embellishments to Marianne Faithful with fishnet details and toga dresses and Brian Jones overdone velvet jackets. Scads of her looks were emblazoned with IOU, which wasn't completely obvious but given Westwood's environmental leanings is likely a reference to the debt we owe the planet. Westwood walked the runway with a T-shirt emblazoned: "I am Julian Assange. Assange has been holed up in the Ecuadorian embassy in London since 2012. He faces pillage allegations in Sweden and an active investigation in the United States involving espionage, conspiracy and computer fraud. Ermanno Scervino's menswear accumulation for spring-summer 2017 is intensely personal. Cat-eye motifs on sweaters were inspired by his beloved country cat, Mimmo. And the elegant contour with sporty touches recalls his own youthful wardrobe. "When I was 18 years old, I lived in New York, and I dressed like this," the designer said during a walkthrough of the whip-round in his Milan showroom. The collection contrasts materials like. Men's create for a night on the town - AL.com

Styled by Milo Lover. Assisted by Brandon Wayne. Model: Kin Glover. Shot at Fife's Restaurant & Harry and Billie's Lounge. This guy is up for anything, and needs a collection to compliment that attitude. Comfort is important, even if he isn't pulling an all-nighter. These looks make room for spontaneity—he is easily able to show off on a cut a rug floor, hit the basketball court, and climb onto a rooftop to watch the sunrise. Who knows where the night might take him. Mixing active chafing elements—ex. the starter jacket, Adidas sneakers, cargo joggers, ball caps—into any look is the trend this season. It's the natural advance from the growing popularity of resort wear over the last five years. Men figured out they wanted to be comfortable, and now they are realizing they also want to be applicable. These looks are a mix of comfort, practicality, and style. Source: www.al.com
