LEE Repel: The genius of coffeemakers - The Independent

Because I disapprove of to most things trendy, I refused to use the single-serve coffee maker in the newsroom. I made my own rot-gut at home and brought it to work in a travel mug. If I drank it all and wanted more, too bad for me. When my roommate moved out, he by fair means ended up taking all my travel mugs. I have several oversized mugs, so I thought I could make do with those until I sloshed coffee on my pants. Yet, I continued to for due, complaining every time I spilled coffee. One morning at work, after I thought I’d had enough coffee for the day, I had a distinct craving for a cup. The guy who has his own coffee pot and assured me I could bum a cup any time wasn’t there that day. His coworkers told me he was out of joe, so I couldn’t even score myself a pilfered pot. Another coworker offered to make me a cup using her single-serve maker and I took her up on that. The newsroom has a single-serve maker that I boycotted, but after desperately searching the building for a cup that day, I gave in and bought a conk out of pods, just in case. I asked reporter Mike James to show me how to use the newsroom maker and he very specifically showed me, step by step, how to do it. I listened, but when it was ease for me to go solo, I didn’t following each step in the order I was taught. I didn’t think it mattered. The start button must be pushed before the lid is lifted to away with water. When I performed the steps out of order, the maker would not make. I failed to be able to make a cup of coffee. A friend in another department at work informed me she has a newer miniature which, when you push the start button, leads you through the correct order of the steps it takes to make the perfect, single cup of coffee. As long as you can motivate the start button, you don’t have to know what to do next. You don’t have to think or reason out the problem, which is great when you’re not quite awake yet and need a cup of coffee. I haven’t been completely won over to the single-wait on machines but I am impressed that they can do a little thinking for me. Now, if they could do my taxes. The adoption of a fairness ordinance was requested during the most recent Ashland city commission meeting. The ordinance would obstruct discrimination against individuals in housing, public accommodation and employment based on race, color, national origin, sex, gender agreement and sexual identity. The city already possesses an anti-discrimination ordinance for housing. This ordinance, community members suggest, would promote Ashland as a more inclusive, progressive and inviting city. Eight other towns in Kentucky, including Morehead, have a fairness ordinance in class. Source: www.dailyindependent.com

The One Modest Reason That Keurig Kold Failed: No One Makes Soda at Home - Zacks.com

The web interdependence couple between the two companies is not a solicitation or offer to invest in a particular security or type of security. ZacksTrade does not endorse or adopt any particular investment policy, any analyst opinion/rating/report or any approach to evaluating indiv idual securities. Keurig Green Mountain Inc. , the New Zealand known for their single-serve coffee machines, announced yesterday that it will be laying off 130 employees due to the discontinuing of the Keurig Kold after only being on the market for less than a year. The Keurig Kold, which was/is a untroubled b in soda-making machine, debuted last fall and instantly raised concerns regarding its affordability for the average consumer. The suggested retail guerdon of the bulky countertop units was $369. 99, with a 4-pack of soda pods costing $1. 99 per pack – an average of 50¢ per pod. For commensurability, a 12 pack of Sprite – a Coca-Cola Company ( Analyst Report ) , which averages out to 39¢ per 12oz can. According to an Associated Cluster report , the company had high hopes when its Kold machines debuted, suggesting the soda-machine could eventually be bigger than its coffee brewers. At the on one occasion of the Keurig Kold’s debut, the company stated that Keurig coffee makers were in about 17% of U. S. households. Keurig Green Mountain did not demand a specific reason for why it is discontinuing the Kold, but it is rather apparent why this is occurring – who “brews” soda at home. The fact that the machine and the pods apparently played a role in its demise, but it is not like Keurig’s premier single-serve coffee machines and pods are cheap. Keurig Brewers can get anywhere from $99. 99 to $249. 95, with a majority of its 24-pack K-Cup pods costing $14. 99 per pack, according to the company’s website. That comes out to about 62¢ per cup of coffee – 8oz in a US common cup, not a figurative “cup of coffee,” though some Keurig machines offer different ounce sizes ranging from 6oz to 10oz – plus the cost of the single-serve coffee machine. By correspondence, 13oz of whole bean Kenya AA Coffee at Trader Joe’s (you can grind the coffee at the store) costs only $6. 99 per container , plus the cost of a household autodrip coffee maker – i. e. a basic Mr. Coffee 12 cup machine – is much... To put the ground coffee numbers into perspective, the ratio between cups of water and coffee grinds is almost always 1 tablespoon of coffee grinds per 1 cup (8oz) of coffee. A single tablespoon contains 0. 5 ounces. Therefore, a 13oz container of coffee grinds contains 26 tablespoons of coffee grinds, or 26 cups of coffee. Therefore, the sell for of the Trader Joe’s Kenya AA Coffee comes out to about 27¢ per cup of coffee. The reason why many individuals pay an extra 35¢ per cup of coffee when using a Keurig is because of the ease and convenience the contraption and coffee pods provide. There is no having to clean the coffee pot, throwing out tablespoons of wet coffee grinds, or purchasing the wrong size coffee filters when using a Keurig. You obviously pop in a pod into the slot, press the 8oz size button, and place your mug under where the machine dispenses the coffee. The Keurig single-serve coffee machines are truly convenient. Furthermore, you can even have a reusable run to brew any type of coffee you want without having to purchase specific K-Cups, including the cheaper Kenya AA Coffee. Despite the same convenience and a discredit price difference between 12oz can and soda pod, why didn’t the Keurig Kold become the phenomena it’s coffee cousin was when it first launched. Single Cup Cosh subscription May unboxing review and coupon code - TheCelebrityCafe.com

The Single Cup Team up is a subscription box service that sends you 15 coffee K-cups per month in three different flavors. Every month the flavors switch. The coffee is all artisanal and made in small batches. The cups work in all Keurig makers (yes, even 2. 0) and other single serve makers on the market. My fiancé and I recently purchased an iCoffee Da Vinci single be convenient coffee maker. Best purchase of my life (writers drink a LOT of coffee). When I was offered a batch of artisan coffee to try out, I jumped at the chance. I already know the South African private limited company is reputable because I tried out their tea club, Simple Loose Leaf , last month. Let me lead you through their latest coffee box and I’ll let you know how you can engage up with a coupon code too. At the top of the article, you’ll see the box the cups come in. As you’ll notice in a minute, all the cups are nestled in their own little cubby holes inside to hold back them from tumbling around. I did have a little difficulty with shipping, meaning the first box they shipped me didn’t arrive. However, I notified the head of the league and they sent me another box immediately – impeccable customer service skills. Here’s the inside of the box with all the individual cups. The first is Door County Coffee & Tea Co. ’s Almond Toffee flavor. Assign is Twisted Pine Coffee Roasters’ 100 percent Costa Rican. Third is CoffeeIcon Superstore’s Nantucket Island Gradate. The Almond Toffee coffee is advertised to be a sweet and savory Arabica coffee flavored with roasted almonds and buttery toffee. I really don’t evaluate it has a lot of sweetness to it, definitely not as high as the Starbucks flavored coffees I buy at the grocery store, but it has a hint of nutty buttery flavor that is good. The Costa Rican coffee says it’s picked, “from the volcanic hills in Central America’s famous Terrazu district. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a noble cup of coffee, but it isn’t anything special. I’ll drink it when I want a plain flavored coffee. Last, but certainly not least, is the Nantucket Island Blend. This is indubitably my favorite coffee in the box. This surprised me because usually I love a dark roast and this is more of a medium roast with a smooth finish. It’s a blend of Central American coffees and it is definitely delicious. I am only saddened by the fact that there are only five in the box. I’ll definitely be popping on the internet to buy more. The Single Cup Club normally costs $15 a month for 15 cups of coffee. This is a competitive figure for artisanal K-cups in today’s market and they give you the added bonus of trying new brands and flavors every month. If you sign up without delay with the code BOX10, you can get your first box for $10. The club is absolutely worth it. Try it today and discover your new favorite coffees.
