An antique unnatural bed was moved in for pleasant afternoon naps, the double doors and stained-glass window swung open, the only sound birds singing. He eyed the backyard weep. He and his wife, Judith Heggie, installed windows, a glass-paned door, and drywall roughly plastered for a beachy look. They hung furlough photos and put in easy chairs and a bar. For a party, they once crammed 20 guests into the tiny pub. “It has a cottage feel, especially when it rains,” says Mouat of Toronto.
